Bible Study The Gospel of Luke
In order to teach them about the significance of His death and Resurrection and the nature of His messianic mission, Jesus gave the disciples a Bible study on the road to Emmaus. The two disciples would never forget that day’s walk to Emmaus: “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the scriptures?” (Lk. 24:32).1 To prepare for upcoming Sunday readings that will prominently feature the Gospel of Luke, join us as we study the highlights of the first volume of the Apostle’s New Testament writing. We will see how Luke anchors his Gospel in the traditions of the OT, portraying Jesus as the Savior of God’s Old Covenant people, that Jesus came to initiate the restoration of Israel foretold by the prophets. We will be able to appreciate Jesus’ messianic coming as a joyful, healing and freeing time.
Sessions will be via Zoom Wednesday evenings, 7-8:30: and Thursday Noon-1:30 starting November 6/7 and ending December 4/5. If you plan on attending, please contact Rick Halsted via email at rhalsted@frontiernet.net or the parish office at 334-3518 to reserve a spot and be on the email list to receive weekly course materials. We will be reading scripture passages from the Old and New Testament so have a Bible handy.
