Be A Blessing To Someone Today!
Feb 18, 2020
What does it mean to be a blessing? What qualifications are required? The most important qualification is unconditional love. Being a blessing means giving from the heart. As Christ says “it is more blessed to give than to receive.”
You need look no further than our Sunday Masses to see examples of people who are blessings, that is, people who share their time and talents with generous hearts every Sunday.
The person who greets you at mass with a smile of welcome and a copy of the bulletin may be the first blessing you receive. Here are some other blessings you receive: the members of the choir who joyfully sing to you during mass; the lector who pours out the Word of the Lord to comfort your soul; the priest who brings you the greatest “blessing of all” … the Eucharist … to nourish you spiritually; the Eucharistic Ministers who assist him; and the person who takes Communion to the homebound.
After mass you may be invited to go to breakfast where someone has provided the blessing of food and fellowship. The person in the back of church who is collecting food for the hungry or baby clothes for the new born of a single mother in need. All are blessings to you!
How will you be a blessing in some small way to your Church family today? Won’t you be a volunteer? Jesus says we must be a servant to all. Here is a short prayer to help you discern how to be that blessing.
Make me a blessing,
Out of my life may Jesus shine.
Make me a blessing, O Savior I pray,
Make me a blessing to someone today.
Blessings, Jeanne Leonardi
