Companionship-Friends for the Journey
Apr 27, 2020
During this time of social distancing and isolation we miss that treasure beyond price ….faithful friends that accompany us on our faith journey. It is said that true friendship isn’t about being inseparable, it’s being separated but nothing changes.
Here is some “holy home work” from writer Mary Poust regarding spiritual friendship. Right now we all have plenty of quiet moments to reflect on the qualities that make these friendships so meaningful.
Here is a meditation for you to ponder especially at this time of loneliness when we long for companionship.
- Reflect on those deep friendships that have influenced your faith journey over the course of your life time. How have these made you a better person?
- Reflect on your relationship with God. How do you nurture that friendship? How does your relationship with God influence the friendships in your life?
So often in our busy lives we don’t take the time to stop and recognize the gifts in our midst---the people with whom we share special relationships, the friends who make us stronger, kinder, and gentler through their own faith and compassion.
Today we give thanks for the friends who are part of our lives. May our hearts always be open to the kindred spirit who wants to walk with us on our spiritual journey, who share our love of God, and who may become a companion, a sounding board, a mentor, a soul friend.
A faithful friend is the medicine of life………….may you stay very healthy.
