During the Easter Triduum we celebrate the last three days on earth of the one person who defied death with the empty tomb, Jesus Christ. The Easter Triduum marks the end of the 40 days of Lent and the beginning of the three day-celebration of the death and resurrection of Christ….Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil. They tell the story that stands at the core of the Christian faith and the abiding significance of these sacred events in the lives of people today.
These last forty days have been a time of preparation for these great three days. The fathers of the Second Vatican Council remind us of the significance of these three days: “Christ redeemed us all and gave perfect glory to God: dying he destroyed our death and rising he restored our life.”
These three days lead us to the empty tomb and the Easter celebration of his resurrection. We are invited to participate in the sacrifice of Calvary which occurred once and for all. This is the celebration of the life of our “hero”, Jesus Christ. He died so we might live eternally. “I am the resurrection and the life and whosoever believes in me shall not die.”
Do you believe? Yes, Lord I believe!
Three Days That Changed the World…….how has it changed your life?
