I'm New Here

When You Visit

Visiting a new church can be intimidating

Where do I park? Are my children welcome?

We understand the many thoughts that can come from visiting a new church, so we want you to feel completely comfortable when you visit. Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to contact us or talk with an usher when you visit.

What should I wear?

We want you to feel comfortable. After all, we are thrilled that you're joining us and want you to be more focused on the service than what you're wearing. In the summertime, it's not uncommon to see people wearing sandals, shorts, and a shirt. Others prefer to still put on their "Sunday best," and that's fine too!

How do I get to St. Marianne Cope  Roman Catholic Parish?

Our parish is located at 2061 E. Henrietta Rd, Rochester, NY 14623. Here is a map.

Where should I park?

We have an ample parking lot, though the walk from the lot to the front door can seem long for those who struggle with pain or mobility.  We have about 16 "handicap spots" that will hopefully help provide a more comfortable transition into the building.

Cars are always welcome to pull up under the canopy to let people out closer to the front door.

Where do my children go?

Children are always welcome and encouraged in church.

For parents who feel more comfortable walking children outside of the church proper, the mass can be heard through a speaker in the Narthex and hallway.

I’m not Catholic, how do I know when to sit, stand and kneel?

There’s no need to be self-conscious about the postures and responses used during worship. Most visitors just follow the lead of the our parishioners. However, we do have worship aids located in each pew that provide you with the order of the mass, the postures, and the words to each prayer. If you don't see a worship aid in your pew, ask an usher, and they will be happy to bring you one.

I have a hearing problem, is there any special assistance?

We offer a portable handheld hearing device that connects into the sound system.  Ask any of the greeters, ushers or staff members around for assistance with accessing the device.  Our 10:30 am Mass has the possibility to be in ASL, when we are made aware in advance.  Call the office at 585-334-3518 M-Th at least 7 business days prior to the date of attendance.
