Bible Study - After the Exiles

Join us for our next Bible Study, “After the Exile” when we will consider the Books of Ezra, Nehemiah and 1st & 2nd Maccabees. We will see how the Lord guided his people when they returned to Judea and coped while rebuilding the ‘not so’ Promised Land. We will explore the religious, social and political issues that were to affect them right up until the arrival of Jesus. We will also pursue an understanding of how those scriptures affected them, the New Testament writers and our theology today.

You will have your choice of meeting via Zoom at 7 pm Wednesday evenings or Thursday at Noon as well as Friday Noon, in person, in room 5, for 5weeks beginning July 9/10/11 and ending August 6/7/8.  If you plan to attend, please send contact information to Rick Halsted at rhalsted@frontiernet.net or leave word at the parish office, 334-3518. This will allow us to send you Zoom information for the on-line sessions as well as weekly study materials.

We will not be using a primary text. However, for those wanting to explore these scriptures more deeply, the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible booklet, “1st and 2nd Maccabees” might prove helpful. For those wanting to take an even larger step, the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible, New and Old Testaments is now available. Both can be found at Ignatius.com and Amazon.com.
