Bible Study - Deuteronomy
Join us for our next Bible Study, the Book of Deuteronomy. Why Deuteronomy? Because, it’s not just a book of rules and liturgical practices. It stands at a turning point in the biblical story. To prepare the Israelites, Moses delivers passionate preaching about the responsibilities of living as the People of God. Our Lord valued it so much that he quoted it more often the any of the Old Testament scriptures.
The Book of Deuteronomy answers the question which Commandment is the greatest, it set ground rules for divorce which, compared to neighboring nations, offered at least some protection for women and established just treatment under the law through through requirement of witnesses. We will learn how Deuteronomy affected the moral, religious, and civil development of Israel in the promised land; provided a framework for a closer relationship with God and brought a clearer understanding of how to ‘choose life’ everlasting.
