Bible Study - St Paul's Letters to Timothy and Titus
St. Paul’s Letters to Timothy and Titus, his Pastoral Epistles
Join us for our study of Paul’s Letters to Timothy and Titus, his Pastoral Epistles.
We will explore Paul’s positions on love, morality, treatment of sinners, and some
surprising opinions concerning women and conduct in the Church. He gives
excellent advice to the Churches in their struggles with the Judaizers and heretics
of his times on how to combat their negative effects on new, early Christian
communities. As in our previous studies, there will be extensive referencing of the
Catechism of the Catholic Church as well as the writings of Doctors of the Church
and Early Church Fathers.
In addition to our regular Wednesday and Thursday Zoom meetings, we will also
continue the in-person session, Friday at noon. To summarize, we will meet via
Zoom at 7 pm Wednesday evenings, Thursday at Noon and Friday, in person in
room 5, for 6 sessions beginning September 3/4/5 ending October 15/16/17. If you
plan to attend, please contact Rick Halsted at rhalsted@frontiernet.net or leave
word at the parish office, 334-3518 to receive Zoom information for the on-line
sessions as well as weekly study materials. As the primary text, we will be using
the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible booklet, “The Letters of St Paul to the
Thessalonians, Timothy and Titus.” It is available through Ignatius.com and
Amazon.com
