Bible Study - Epistles of St John
The Epistles of St John
You are invited to join us as we study St John's Epistles. Increase the depth of your knowledge of these short but important parts of Holy Scripture. Framed by the historical and cultural background of these writings, our goals include coming to a better understanding of the "Catholic" Epistles, John's use of symbols and his teachings on love, divine filiation and concept of faith in Jesus Christ. As in our previous studies, there will be extensive referencing of the Catechism, Doctors of the Church and Early Church Fathers.
We will meet via Zoom at 7pm on Wednesdays evenings and May, 21-June 4, at 12 noon on Thursdays, May 22-June 5 or in person on Fridays in Room 5 at St Marianne Cope, Guardian Angels, May 23 -June 6.
If you plan to attend, please contact Rick Halsted at rhalsted@frontiernet.net or leave word at the parish office, 334-3518.
As primary text, we will be using the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible booklet, "The 1st, 2nd & 3rd Letters of St John and the Revelation to St John." It is available through Ignatius.com and Amazon.com.
